Accounting Manager

United Structural Systems, Inc. is the leading foundation repair and waterproofing company in Middle TN and Southern Kentucky. We are seeking an experienced individual for an Accounting Manager position to assist with the management of the accounting functions in Pleasant View, TN. We are looking for an accounting manager with strong knowledge of Sage 100 or equivalent accounting system and a firm understanding of GAAP and accounting processes and can lead and oversee staff that process AR, AP, payroll, and job costing.

This position will report directly to the VP of Finance and HR and will supervise 2 accounting staff positions. This position requires a person who is a proactive problem solver and has strong management and decision-making skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to VP of Finance & HR for all accounting-related matters for two companies doing business in multiple locations and states.
  • Ensure all accounting processes and transactions are in accordance with GAAP.
  • Assist in establishing appropriate internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Develop and document business processes to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  • Maintain general ledger and subsidiary ledger accounts to ensure accurate financial reporting for two companies.
  • Oversee all financial recording and reporting processes relating to all cash receipts, A/P, A/R, payroll, and job costing.
  • Ensure proper processing and recording of weekly multi-state payroll, weekly tax and 401K deposits and payroll deduction payments.
  • Manage and oversee company credit card account with over 60 cards and several other company charge accounts.
  • Calculate and file monthly sales and use tax returns for various locations.
  • Maintain all job costing info (pricing and products) in Sage100 and Salesforce systems to ensure accurate job cost and financial reporting.
  • Supervise and train staff on best practices, perform annual performance reviews for accounting staff, and works with management on appropriate staffing allocation.
  • Knowledge of Percentage of Completion and construction accounting and job costing.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly city, county, state and federal tax forms and annual 1099’s, 401K reports, and various monthly and weekly financial reports.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities by defining problems, analyzing data, identifying options, and executing best practice solutions.
  • Knowledge of Certified payroll calculations, reporting and recordkeeping
  • Ensure intracompany transactions between three companies are processed accurately.
  • Other duties as assigned to assist in the overall production of the Accounting and HR Department.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • Five years relevant experience with full-cycle accounting periods with 2 years of accounting management experience at a minimum
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Google Workspace and SalesForce.
  • Experience with SAGE 100 or equivalent accounting system
  • Experience with Financial Reporting Requirements
