After purchasing a new house and pulling up floors, I discovered my floors were frightfully uneven. I spent four months assessing and quoting our structural issues with a structural engineer and four different structural contractors. None of the contractors provided us with diagrams of the work they were going to do. Some wouldn’t warranty their work because of the gravity of the job. Some wouldn’t take the job because they said it was too hard. Most could barely read the engineer’s report. One’s interpretation of the report was extremely over-engineered (you can read that “over charged”). One didn’t even keep the scheduled appraisal appointment where they required both my wife and I to be in attendance. This was not the case with USS. The project manager was punctual, responded to my emails late at night (even while waiting at an airport), and was providing CAD drawings with each change. When they took on the job, the foreman and crew were punctual and executed on time and effectively. When I raised concern one evening, they addressed it immediately without putting the timeline in jeopardy. They were all extremely courteous and professional. They took on my “too tough” job and warrantied the work to boot. They made this very tiring experience much less stressful. My only regret is that I didn’t get USS to quote the job from the jump. A near perfect experience.
